How I am getting my baby to sleep longer and sounder-- without any schedule changes.

I have three children, but it wasn't until only a few months ago that I made an amazing discovery. I realized that if I drank a cup of orange juice with a heaping tablespoon of Greens+ or Green Vibrance Junior before nursing, my son would sleep much more soundly than normal. With my first two children, I never drank any special "Greens" powders, and neither were good sleepers. With this child, who is named James and is 4 months old, I drank Greens powders all through pregnancy. He was born 8 lbs. 1 oz., (compared to 7 lbs. 10 oz. and 7 lbs. 11 1/2 oz.), but he has been much chubbier as he grows than my first two. He is still not an overly fat baby though.

I made the discovery one morning while I was thinking about how exceptionally well my son was sleeping that day. It was a morning I had drunk the Super Greens. I thought about how he had slept really well a few days before that, on another day I had drank the Super Greens. I started to monitor how well he slept on the days I did and didn't drink the Greens. I noticed with startling regularity that he seemed to always sleep better on those days I drank it.

Another observation I made was that my friend, who probably drinks Greens Powders several times every day, has always had very chubby babies who rarely nurse. She nurses her babies without supplementing, but they are happy even when they must go for hours between feedings. I've noticed that James is also willing to go longer between feedings than my other babies were.

I'm thinking that somehow the greens powder gives the milk more protein (since Spirulina is so high in protein, and that is one of the key ingredients), more healthy fats, and more overall nutrition. It has something that is making my baby happy! Which is always great for the mommy.

Now the downside of this is that all those Green powders are expensive!!

What are Green Powders and can I get them?
I first tried a brand I bought online that caused some sort of bad reaction after I drank it. I had either a strong niacin flush or an allergic reaction, but I became very weak and my throat started closing up and I felt like I couldn't breath. So I never tried that brand again. Next I bought Green Vibrance Junior from Henry's Market in California. I really like that one, but I haven't seen it for sale out here in Texas. They do sell a Green Vibrance (for adults) that I have bought, but it doesn't seem to taste as good or give me as much energy as the kids version. So now I am using Greens+ that I bought at Central Market in Southlake, TX. It was $39.00 for a bottle that I am using up way too quickly. My friend who I mentioned earlier uses Vitamineral Green that she buys online, and she loves this "Superfood" above all the other green powders.

I've also considered buying just spirulina in bulk powder form because it would be so much cheaper. It would cost me $18.00 plus shipping for one pound of spirulina if I bought it online. Then I could "supplement" the spirulina with the greens powder, which has such an awesome range of ingredients. Or I can just keep praying that one of the companies who makes green powders will want to give me a years supply for free just because they like my blog. :) And this really is my preferred choice. In my own little dream world, because the Greens+ gives me so much energy and helps my nursing baby sleep so well, I would probably drink it 3 or 4 times a day if I could. I would just be looking at a $1,500 a year price tag on this little habit. I guess that is similar to people who get Starbucks every day: $5.00 a day X 365 days a year = over $1,500.

Now this "baby sleeping better" may just be my own strange experience, but it's worth trying if you have a baby that could use a little better sleep. :)
